making an academic topic somewhat more easy to tackle

This book is kind of unique, as there are no other books out there addressing birds or mammals and climate change. The authors team up to present a readable text. One author is a freelance science writer.
The text mentions numerous habitats and species. There are few tables, most of the data is in the text. Pictures are in two sections in the middle and toward the back. It's taken me about half a year to get through it. Illustrations might have helped, as you have to imagine all the habitats from films and personal experience. Few of us have been to the Antarctic and the arctic is unfamiliar to many.
It's a good effort. You can continue your study based on your local area and local bird maps and bird counts. The change will be apparent to all in 20 years.
