Stephen M. Stahl is Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California at San Diego. He has conducted numerous research projects awarded by the National Institute of Mental Health, the Veterans Administration, and the pharmaceutical industry. Author of more than 350 articles and chapters, Dr Stahl is the author of the bestsellers Stahl's Essential Psychopharmacology and The Prescriber's Guide.

Excellent to review ADHD pathology

Great pictures and concise descriptions and definitions/explanations in order to fully understand what parts of the brain are involved in each of the ADHD symptoms (impulsivity, distractibility, lack of attention, etc). I would suggest this book for psychiatrists like me, who don't necesarily see lots of patients with ADHD in order to explain them whenever they ask questions about what could be the mechanisms for their symptoms.

Dr. Stahl has a magical method for explaining the neurocognitive processes for difficult concepts to students & patients. My patients are visual and appreciate the images. I can use the sections with medications to guide the options and rationales for choice. Helpful to my adult and pediatric patients.
